Holding a magnifier is harder than it looks. The lens has to stay at one precise distance or the image blurs, and a child concentrating on that has no attention left for what they are looking at.
A stand removes the problem entirely. The lens is fixed at the correct focal distance and stays there, so the image is always sharp and the child’s hands are free — which means they can turn the specimen, poke it, or draw what they see without losing the view.
The 11 cm lens is large enough for two or three children to look through at once. That is a genuine teaching advantage: shared looking means shared talking, and “can you see the legs?” only works if both parties can see.
It also makes longer observation possible. A specimen can sit under the stand for a whole session, or several days, and children return to it repeatedly rather than getting one thirty-second look.
- Fixed focal distance — always in focus, no technique needed
- Frees both hands to manipulate the specimen or draw it
- 11 cm lens: two or three children look together and talk about it
- Specimens can stay set up for repeated observation
- Recommended ages 3–9
Pairs with the science observation table and the insect figures kit. For KG science corners and nursery discovery areas.
