The extra width buys a whole additional column of front-facing display without adding height. Books stay at 80 cm and below, so nothing is out of a child’s reach, and the collection spreads sideways instead of upwards.

The side panels carry a cut teddy-bear profile. That is a decorative choice, and it does something practical too: it gives children a landmark. “Put it back at the teddy shelf” is an instruction a three-year-old can follow, where “the second shelf on the left” is not.
