Framing children’s work makes an enormous difference to how seriously they treat it, and the usual method — trimming and mounting on card — is slow enough that in practice it does not happen for most pieces.

A tape border takes seconds. Four torn strips around the edge and the work is framed, and a child can do it themselves rather than handing the piece to an adult and waiting until Thursday.

On display boards the same tape does the structural job of dividing sections, marking headings and creating a border that is not a stapled paper strip. It comes off the board cleanly at the end of a topic, which stapled borders do not.
