For a three- or four-year-old, that combination is unusually enabling. Children who cannot yet manage scissors and who lose interest waiting for glue to dry can work independently and at their own pace with tape.

Repositionability matters more than it sounds. Children who know a decision can be undone will try a bolder arrangement; children working in permanent glue tend to play safe. Reversible materials produce braver work.
