Creative Teaching Press (CTP) was founded in 1965 by Luella Connelly, a classroom teacher of seventeen years who started the company from her family's basement with a collection of writing prompts. Six decades on, CTP is still family-owned and teacher-managed, publishing supplemental resources for PreK–grade 8 from Cypress, California: phonics and levelled readers, writing, math, science and social-studies practice, plus the classroom décor — charts, borders, banners and bulletin-board sets — the brand is best known for. CTP acquired publisher The Learning Works in 2000.
