The simplest fix for a cloakroom is usually a rail at the right height, and “the right height” means the child’s, not the adult’s.

This rail is 79.5 cm long and projects only 1.8 cm from the wall, so it can go in a narrow corridor, on the back of a door or in the strip of wall beside a window where a cabinet would never fit.
